My family

Hi,

My name is Kelly and I am the owner and photographer at Kelly Hermitage Photography and I’d like to take this opportunity to say hi and welcome you to my new website.

I am a specialist newborn art and children’s portrait photographer based in Burton Latimer, Kettering, Northamptonshire. Providing a friendly and relaxed photography experience from my comfortable home studio. Myself and my partner live with our mischievous little munchkins aka our sons. We also have the pleasure of sharing our home with our little furry friends, Cookie & Izzy the dogs.

My Journey

I have had a camera for years, started with a film camera many years ago (showing my age now, shhh). As a young girl I used to take photos of everything. Mainly my sister and our poor dogs but I have seen photos of plants and planes amongst my first prints (don’t ask). I am sure I drove my Mum mad as developing film was not cheap. I remember the buzz of going to pick up the prints and opening the packet to see how (or if) they were any good. As years went by and cameras changed my film camera was upgraded to digital. This meant that I could instantly see my images on the back of my camera and print only the good ones (phew). That buzz, the feeling of seeing those images and then holding the prints in my hands was never lost.

I spent many years (almost 10) working within the childcare sector both in schools and nurseries. Working with children has always been something that I have been good at and loved doing. Maybe because I am a big kid really. Children seem to seem to like me too (always a bonus). By working hard I qualified with a Diploma in Early Years Practise and an NVQ in Early Years Care and Education. The buzz of photography was always there in the background.

‘Capture the little moments, create the memories’

In 2010 I became a Mum for the first time to a beautiful little boy and my camera became part of my hand. I wanted to capture every moment, every detail, every milestone. As Charlie grew so did my passion for photography. I knew that photography was art and I wanted to be able to paint the perfect picture. In 2012 I completed a City & Guilds photography course with a Distinction and a drive to go further. Shortly after, I had my second son Ollie, my little model. Ollie was the perfect poser and still is (most of the time). With the knowledge and many hours of research that I had been doing I started Kelly Hermitage photography. Memories of our families are precious and I wanted to be able to use my skills and knowledge to capture those memories for other families.

Throughout my journey I have had the privilege of training in the art of safe newborn posing with a fantastic newborn photographer. I can proudly say that my images have been awarded in The Guild of Photographers competition and The NPS. But the best part of my job is passing that buzz that I feel from photography onto my clients. Sharing a photography experience with families that visit me and seeing their faces when they see their images for the first time.
